We went to check out some fabric shops in Bucaramanga the fabrics were for clothing. I did see some Columbian produced cotton. Nothing for quilting to hot for quilts. When we were touring we went to see where fika was processed
Fika is like a cactus type plant that they take the fibres out wash it dye it then card it like wool. Then they wind into a string and then weave it or tie in knots to make things. In the picture you will see placemats that I bought the second picture is the grocery bag they put your purchases in and the last picture is a purse. Production is very labour intensive and the only automation was little motors to wind the string.

I like the purse. I can see that there is probably not much use for our type of quilts.
